I have a confession to make. I did not conceive " Jersey Baby's ". That was the brainchild of my daughter Danielle. I did, however, help conceive her. Which gives her a lifetime all-access pass. And, as any father knows, it's always best to pay attention when she's excited about something. And Danielle was very excited about this project. So I dad what any dad would do - 'after some serious badgering', I said " go ahead, knock yourself out"
Next thing I know, Danielle brought my son Shannon in to design the package. And suddenly I realized that her pipe dream had turned into a family affair. Now, how's a father supposed to resist a family affair? They're what we live for right? That's when the idea of creating a musical playground we could all play in became irresistible.
I remember my own parents, when I was starting out in the music business. They wanted me to get a real job. But they knew how much I wanted to write music, and eventually they gave in. You can't fight real passion. And from that moment on they were my fiercest most devoted advocates. So know its my turn to do the same for my kids and be unconditionally supportive and to keep an open ear to their ideas and passions.
I am hardly a model father, or grandfather for that matter. But if any of my kids' kids ever brag's " hey, my grandpa wrote those songs " Well, hey, that's as good as it gets for me .......Bob Gaudio
PS: even control freaks like myself have to listen to their kids once in awhile
